Aluna Cocktail Bar and Restaurant Bristol

Last Saturday my boyfriend and I took a trip to Aluna in Bristol and I can honestly say I am very impressed. Aluna is a cocktail bar and restaurant situated in the City Centre of Bristol. As Aluna is well known for its extravagant cocktails, it was only right that we tried them out whilst enjoying their delicious menu.

To start I decided to have the breaded mushrooms which was a brilliant choice. The texture of these were perfect and unlike others I have tried elsewhere, they were not greasy at all. They made the perfect starter.

My boyfriend chose the Salt Chilli Squid as his starter (as he is much more adventurous than myself). He loved his starter and was pleased with how the chilli sauce complemented the squid.

For our mains we had the Pan Fried Duck in Ponzu Sauce and Chicken Florentine. Both dishes were bursting with flavour and the generous portions definitely filled us up. My boyfriend really enjoyed the texture of the duck, and I felt that the mushroom sauce with the Chicken Florentine was incredible. I will definitely be ordering this main again when I return to the restaurant.

So after finishing our first two courses, we decided to finish off our meal with a delicious dessert. I had the chocolate brownie which was so moist and chocolatey.
Just looking at this picture makes me want to eat it all over again.

My boyfriend decided to go with the Apple Sorbet. Both desserts were well presented and after stealing a spoonful of the sorbet, I can agree that its definitely a tasty and refreshing finish to any meal.

So after giving you a run down of all the delicious food we indulged in – and probably leaving you very hungry, it’s time to show you what amazing cocktails we had.

We tried out several cocktails whilst we were there, including the Mojito and Pomegranate Cosmo. If you’re a fan of Mojitos then you definitely need to take a trip to this cocktail bar. All of their cocktails are incredibly refreshing and I was so impressed with how well presented they were.

After asking the waiter (who was incredible throughout the whole service) which cocktails she recommended, I decided to try out both the Pomegranate Cosmo and Mangolian. Both of these cocktails featured on the Midnight Madness section of the cocktail menu. It was described as ‘The science behind the cocktails’ and after trying them out I can definitely see why.

Both cocktails came out with a bang, featuring an incredible bubbling frost to them. It’s hard to describe in words, so you can watch a video of the Pomegranate Cosmo in action here

Overall as you can probably tell, I was so impressed with the service, food and incredible cocktails at Aluna.  We have both decided that this is our new favourite place and we will definitely be spending our next date night here.

I wanted to make sure that I mentioned that we were really impressed with the staff at Aluna. We were served by a lovely lady named Tory and I would like to thank her for going the extra mile for us and making our experience truly special.

She offered the best recommendations and the service we received definitely helped create the perfect atmosphere!

.

If you’re looking to go out for a special meal, or just wanting to try out some spectacular cocktails, then I would definitely recommend you take a trip to Aluna.

The Body Shop Tea Tree Anti-Imperfection Daily Solution Review

thumbnail_IMG_1860

If you have read any of my previous blog posts you will know how obsessed I am with The Body Shop’s Tea Tree range. When I am having a bad skin day I always turn to their products to help me out.

Whilst doing my usual shop in The Body Shop, I came across the Anti-Imperfection Daily Solution. The product promotes itself as being a light weight serum which can be used daily to produce clearer, healthier and mattified skin.

The product comes in a glass bottle and has a droplet applicator attached to it.

After using this product for a few weeks I have definitely noticed a difference in my skin. I have been using the product both day and night and I have noticed my skin has definitely reduced in oiliness. It has also helped reduce the redness on any blemishes I have had, whilst minimising pores.

I love using this product as it makes my skin feel extremely soft and refreshed. I feel as though this product will last me a lifetime as you only need three or four drops each time.

As always The Body Shop have impressed me with this product and it will definitely be a product I will continue using.

I’d love to hear which products you love from The Body Shop.

xoxo

AP-24 Whitening Fluoride Toothpaste Review

thumbnail_IMG_0666

For somebody who loves coffee as much as I do, the colour of my teeth is always a concern to me. As I am only 22 years old, I feel that it’s important for me to take care of my teeth to ensure that they stay healthy and pearly white for as long as possible.

I am always on the look out for a toothpaste which helps whiten my teeth, so I jumped at the chance to try out the AP-24 Whitening Fluoride Toothpaste by NU Skin.

In order to gain an honest view of the product, I decided to wait until I had used up the whole tube before writing my review. One thing to note is that this tube seemed to last forever.

Unlike many other whitening toothpastes, this one did not leave a nasty taste in my mouth. It was very refreshing and after looking back at my before and after photographs, I can definitely see a positive change in the colour of my teeth.

There was around five to six weeks between the two photos, but I can already tell a difference between the patchiness of my teeth. I also continued to drink as much coffee as I wanted whilst using this toothpaste in order to get a realistic result.

I love this product as it does not break the bank, but there are clear results when using the product. My teeth feel much cleaner and I will definitely continue to use this product.

If you’re looking for an easy and cost effective way to brighten your teeth, I would definitely recommend you give this toothpaste a go.

Lace in Fashion -Fashion Museum Bath

befunky-collage

Last week I was lucky enough to attend a sneak preview of the Lace in Fashion exhibition at The Fashion Museum in Bath. The exhibition runs from February 4th 2017 until the January 1st 2018.

“Drawing on the riches of the Fashion Museum’s collection, as well as generous loans from contemporary fashion designers, the exhibition showcases 50 exquisite pieces, showing how lace has been used in fashion from the 1500s to the present day.”

On arrival we were welcomed with refreshments and had a chance to admire the collection whilst waiting for everyone to arrive. We were then given an amazing tour of the collections, enabling us to revisit the history behind each piece.

It was interesting to see how lace had began as a hand made art, taking hours to complete and only to be worn by the wealthiest of people. Many of the pieces we visited included collars and cuffs, carefully designed and perfected by delicate hand made lace.

It was amazing to see how far lace had come in terms of both technology and fashion. Lace can now be easily found on both the high street and catwalk, which makes it interesting to see how it has transformed throughout the years.

There are many collections to see, featuring some interesting and inspiring work.  Glamorous pieces come into play throughout the exhibition and there are some beautiful dresses which definitely caught my eye.

If you’re looking to spend the day admiring wonderful fashion, then I would definitely recommend you head to the Fashion Museum in Bath. Not only will you find this extraordinary collection, but you can venture through galleries filled with historical and contemporary fashion.

Teakruthi Review

thumbnail_img_2948

I have always been a huge fan of tea, which is why I was so excited when this package finally arrived.

Tea sold by teakruthi is hand picked and ethically sourced from the world’s finest plantation in Sri Lanka. The tea they provide has no artificial or genetically modified organisms, leaving it incredibly natural and good for you.

As teakruthi delivers their tea direct from the plantation to your doorstep in less than three months, there’s no wonder why it tastes so refreshing.

After reading about this brand of tea online I went ahead and ordered some to try out for myself. I decided to try out the Zen Mint and Mythical Green tea. The tea is loose, but when you buy a bag you also receive a infuser which is amazing.

Zen Mint is the perfect tea to start the day as the strong mint aroma will definitely get you moving in the morning. Zen Mint is also great to drink after a meal as it leaves you with a refreshing taste and settles your stomach.

Mythical Green is also a refreshing tea and I tend to drink this on my breaks at work as it gives you a boost of energy throughout the day. As the tea is loose you can decide how strong you like it, as I know not everybody enjoys the taste of a strong green tea.

I enjoy my tea very strong, so I tend to leave the infuser in for a good 3-5 minutes. I did taste the tea at all stages and it was incredible throughout them all, so if you’re somebody who doesn’t like tea too strong then this would be great for you.

If you’re looking to start your new year with a new refreshing tea, then I would definitely recommend that you check out tearuthi as there is a wide range of teas to suit all tastes.

Bristol Fashion Week 2016

thumbnail_img_2138

This week I was lucky enough to be invited to blog for Bristol Fashion Week. The event was held at The Mall in Cribbs Causeway, Bristol and ran from the 28th September – 2nd October. On arrival each guest was welcomed with a glass of bubbly and a small selection of snacks before being shown to their designated seat.

thumbnail_img_2145

The opening show was incredible and with the theme being Military, the range did not disappoint.  The scene featured some fresh fashions from Marks & Spencer, along with bags from Radley London.

thumbnail_img_2151

The scene was followed by some amazing new trends, along with Uniform Makeover, a personal favourite of mine. The collection included some great pieces for work, along with some stable winter coats.

The Uniform Makeover collection featured fashion from Marks & Spencer, along with makeup by Bobbi Brown – sporting dark lips and luminous highlighters, along with great hair by G&T in Clifton Village.

There were ten scenes altogether and I absolutely loved them all. One of my favourites  being Gothic– which featured fashion from Coast and menswear from Moss Boss. Black clothing is perfect for any occasion and the amazing atmosphere linked with this produced an unforgettable show.

Another scene I loved would definitely have to be Fairytale. The scene featured some enchanting pieces from Karen Millen, matched with beautiful accessories from Accessorize.

The event ended with a spectacular finale and all guests left with a goody bag full of beauty products, sweets and treats. It was definitely an experience not to be missed.

After leaving the fashion show, I then headed over to Marks & Spencer to attend the blogging event they had prepared for us. The store was decorated with beautiful fairy lights and an enchanting forest theme.

The lovely ladies at Marks & Spencer supplied us with prosecco and delicious snacks throughout the night. We were lucky enough to preview the latest Autumn fashion and were treated to a fabulous nail bar.

It was great being able to socialise with other bloggers and find out more about what Marks & Spencer has to offer this season.

I had an amazing night at both events and I am so grateful for all the information and goodies which were offered to me. I will definitely be heading over to The Mall in Cribbs Causeway, Bristol to pick up some of the latest fashion pieces featured in Bristol Fashion Week this year.

Bridget Jones Blogger Event

Last Thursday I was lucky enough to attend a blogging event to celebrate the release of Bridget Jones’s Baby. The event was held in three venues, all of which you will find in Aspects Leisure Park in Kingswood, Bristol.

There were seven bloggers attending in total and our first stop was Chiquitos.
My plus one and I had arrived at the event early, so I was able to get some snaps of the amazing set up before the rest of the girls arrived.

The staff working in Chiquitos that night had set up a cute little table for us all, filled with nachos, cocktail menus and even a sombrero each. The atmosphere in the place was great and it wasn’t long before the cocktails started flowing and our starters arrived.

The table was filled with so many delicious dishes, including battered Piña Colada prawns, chilli and cheesy garlic bread, along with several traditional Mexican platters. These went down very well with the wonderful cocktails they had to offer us. My favourite cocktail being the Gin Fizz.

After feeling very full from our starters, it was then time to head across the car park to Pizza Hut Restaurant. The Pizza Hut Restaurant in Aspects Leisure Park Bristol has recently been refurbished and it looks incredible.

The restaurant has a real American Diner feel to it which we all enjoyed. After being offered various new pizzas and sides from their menu, I finished my evening feast with a bubbly glass of prosecco.

Once we had finished stuffing our faces, it was time to head over to the main event. With less than a five minute walk away we arrived at Vue to watch Bridget Jones’s Baby.

thumbnail_img_2042

We were lucky to have the back row of the cinema reserved for us, which made the experience even more incredible. The film itself was hilarious and I would even go as far as saying it’s the best one yet.

I had an amazing evening and met some wonderful people.
It was great to experience so many different establishments, all in one place.

If you’re looking to spend an evening dining in a great restaurant or visiting an entertaining bowling or cinema complex, then you should definitely try out Aspects Leisure Park.
